The Weekend after the Week..

Auron of Final Fantasy X
Now.. my weekend after Foundation O-Week... which was last week...
what a hectic and busy week that was for me...

Yesterday, Saturday... woke up at 9.30am, but only got off bed one hour later or so... haha...
spent most of my time today getting to know my iPAQ... adding pictures and songs into it....
mainly personalising it... hehee!
iPAQ HP 5500 Series Pocket PC
here's my iPAQ.... the model is HP 5500 series... quite a good one too... though the battery is quick to be used up.... but that's all...

then evening time, got to join Roger & Kimberley out for dinner.... and then to a concert at the Civic Centre / Dewan Suarah... the Free2Be concert... quite an interesting concert honestly... although it was a Christian sort of concert...
For your information, I'm a Buddhist... Kimberley was so worried that I would feel offended... but honestly, I felt that it was good that I got myself exposed to such an event..
plus it was quite fun... cause of the two speakers... haha... hilarious those two...
after the concert, got to eat supper before going back home...

today, Sunday... haha... woke up half past noon.. my gosh... haha!
spent time doing one of my dueing assignments... but not much progress.... cause not sure what to do... sigh....
nothing much happened today I supposed... just been online the whole day...

sigh... tomorrow start the usual schooling... sigh... wonder how's it gonna be now.. now that Foundation will be starting their semester as well...
campus is gonna be so noisy with students again...

The Foundation O-Week 2005

Sound versus Bugs
Wow.... been such a fun/busy/tiring week for me... my gosh....
as some of you should know, this week was the Foundation O-Week which I am involved along with the other SOAR Advisors to help out...
then again... Student Council is also involved and I was even placed as the person-in-charged together with Nicholas..

Let me start with Monday.. This day was just registration and campus tour for the new students...
Initially, I couldn't stick around for too long cause I had Eng. Computing 100 lecture at 8-10am..
but despite that, I still came out to look at how the SOARs were progressing with the day.. and boy, I can still remember how HAZY it was out there!
Honestly.. I think I frightened Ms. Rismaliza with my firmness to let the SOARs do their work inside the Student Services... especially the ones taking care of the O-Kit Helpdesk... those were the ones that were doing their work outside in the haze... and supposedly for the whole day!
finally got to move in some of the tables and then they did their work indoors, safe from the haze....
thankfully the haze didn't stick around for so long, so the campus tour was not cancelled and just went on... phew...
after the day's work, had a little meeting amongst the SOARs with Abel... prepared our stuffs for the next day's ice-breaking session, and then Aylwin had a little discussion with me, Roger & Ian about a new game he wanted to introduce, which we simply called 'The Detective Game'...
interesting idea... immedaitely I took up the task of creating a story for it...
just when I was about to start on the story... Abel reminded me of a Student Council meeting that I was having at the time... XP

Next day, Tuesday! I couldn't join with the Ice-breaking session cause I had lectures to attend...
but as the lectures went on, in-between breaks or what, I rushed to check on the Orientation's progress...
After lecture I went to look for Ms. Beena, regarding the iPAQ.. I was supposed to meet her yesterday morning, but I completely forgot to... anyway.. met with her, got my iPAQ and I was SO SO SO excited!!
If it wasn't for the uncharged battery, I would've been testing it out once I had some time to bring it around! quite a bother to carry such a large box around along with my already large bag...
Today's orientation wasn't too great, cause the students weren't responding as well as we had thought they would...
Come on, they were Foundation students and we needed to push them so much??
that evening, a couple of meetings that required my attendance began concurrently.. the Student Council and Curtin Volunteers! meeting...
but priority is priority.. I went to the Student Council meeting... then again, the rest of the CV! team can handle the meeting and I can just catch up with what they discussed easily...

Wednesday!! Today was my most opened day of the week...
got to stick around for Orientation most of the day... lotsa dancing and work.... sigh....
had class at 4-6pm... then re-joined the others to prepare for tomorrow's 'Detective Game'..
last night, the actors & actresses had been informed of what they need to do, talk about during the game..
tonight, we prepared the clues for the 'sleuthing' part of the game..
it was somewhat confusing... but in the end, got it all right and we were ready to go...
besides that, also had lotsa dance practises for the song 'Hey Mama' sung by Black-Eyed Peas...

Fourth day in the Foundation Orientation Week... Thursday!
I was able to stick around long enough to finish my task as acting as one of the five suspects in the 'murder' case... before I had to go for lecture...
then afternoon... I was not able to stick around for the 'sleuthing' part... but the other SOARs got to take care of that well enough...
afternoon, each group was to present their final decision of who was the murderer and why he/she did it...
my goodness... three out of five groups got the correct murderer and with reasonable motive...
two of them, though, came up with a suspect that was TOTALLY out of my expectation.... ME!!! Despite how unbelievable that they came to suspect me... their reasonings for my motive were logical.. (though of course without actual evidence! haha..)
That was the most hilarious moment in the whole of my orientation experience... haha!
That night, had one last dance practise for 'Hey Mama' with most of the SOARs and some of the loyal CV members.. followed by dinner at Sultana and then a short happy hour time at Lush Bar at Mariotte... sigh.. such a relaxing time there...
when I came home, I just recalled that I had to take care of a couple of slideshows for the next day! Aiih!!
worked for three hours before I was mostly done.... and I went to sleep at 3.15am and woke up 6.15 or so.. three hours of sleep later...

Sakura blossoms and Kenshin
anyway... Friday! Finally...
presentation in the morning... for Student Council and then the clubs...
man... so busy I was today..... and cause of my lack of sleep throughout this week, I slept a little during the club presentations... before I went off for tutorial... which ended early enough for me to come back to the orientation and in time for CV!'s presentation and then the 'Hey Mama' dance...
after the dance.... I had to drive back home and go pray my father at the temple after having lunch at home...
then after shower, my brother drove me back to campus where I joined Kimberley & Roger to Iqbal's house where they rested for a few hours and then had shower...
I, on the other hand, using Ky's laptop, finished up on one more slideshow that would be shown that night... 'Down Memory Lane' for the orientation weeks..
after all of us were ready.. we headed back to campus and helped out with the venue setup... blowing balloons, arranging chairs, preparing the projector and white screen, and etc....

then came the night itself!!
party party party... along with dinner and lotsa prizes from Student Council and then the five different group presentations...
That night, the SOAR Advisors also got to choose our Mr. & Ms. O-Week of August Intake 2005...
Mr. Austin & Ms. Angie!! Congratulations, you two! (Sorry, but I've no picture of the couple.. haha)
can't wait to see how this two will come out as the semester continues...

After all that, everyone just got down on the dance floor and danced...
me on the other hand... got to meet up with Azie and a few of her cousins... she asked me to bring them around on a campus tour (yeah, late that night.. haha!)... got Kimberley to accompany me to help with the tour too...
after the tour, they went home while me & Kimberley joined the rest of the SOAR advisors to meet with Abel at the library... where Angie was too...
relaxed for a while and talked happily there... before we moved out...
most of them went to continue the night at Cheerie Berries... some of us, like me, Kimberley, Roger & Aylwin, headed straight home....

Wow... what a tiring week...
so many times this week alone I felt I had to be in two places at once.. or even more! haha!
but despite how hectic it was... I still enjoy it... I love this chaotic life of mine.. haha...
or at least.. right now I am enjoying it.. haha!

An Emotional Secret (Pls Comment)

Down, Depression, Despair
Just did this in what... an hour's time?
wasn't easy.. but did it....
Please do leave a comment about it.

(PS: There's a secret in this poem.. let's see if you can uncover its secret.)

AN EMOTIONAL SECRET

My emotional pain and suffering.
All kept hidden in the dark,
I barely enjoy my own presence.
Like as if I’ve a charming voice,
Like as if I’m good looking,
I’ve never been in Fate’s favor;
Will I ever have a chance?

You were the first I dare say I loved, though.
Every girl that I knew before,
Like or love,
Really I could never tell.
Ears burning so red;
Bearing the heart pounding;
Mind easily distracted;
I just can’t help it.
Killing myself slowly, I’m sure.

Every girl I’ve met.
I’ve never been as close,
Really, truly, honestly.
And none was like this,
Many in the past before.

New feelings emerged.
Never have I felt like this before;
A glance of you is just not enough.

Hectic-turned-serene end...

The Fearsome Sand Ninjas
Wow.... been such a busy few days... packed with so much things to do as I said before...
Let's start off with where I left off... which was last Thursday..

I recall that day wasn't such a good day for me.. sigh...
first... woke up late and completely missed the first lecture at 10am...
was feeling real 'b*tch7' by that, but that was fueled by other minor annoyance, such as terrible traffic...
however, soon it turned out not so bad... when I was able to redeem my attendance in my earlier lecture later on (cause the lecturer forgot to take attendance that lecture)..
then after the two lectures that afternoon, I got to join Roger, Kim & Eddy to do some preparation for the games planned for the Run For Charity 2 event at Dynasty Hotel on Sunday.
After that just hung and play around at Roger's house and then, dinner, and then went for the meeting at Dynasty Hotel that night...

Next day... quite a lot of bother happened to me... sheesh.. I can still remember how "HECTIC" it was that morning alone....
first, early morning, went to my mother's office to print some of my lecture notes and tutorial sheets...
then Abel called me and asked me to help look for some CV! members to help him out with a campus tour that afternoon... and they need to be able to understand and speak Malay..
So, call after call after call.... and finally got enough people to help...
then I realised that I have less than half an hour more to go before my lecture... so I rushed to campus....
arriving campus and to the tutorial class... wrong class... eh? strange...
search around a little.. then found my lecturer... then I just realised... my class was one hour later... -_-III

anyway... besides that, after that one hour class was done, met up with Abel and the CV! members that I contacted at the cafeteria, where he briefed them on what they need to be doing later...
then at 1pm, just when he was done, I rushed off to meet Ms. Beena regarding the ipac.... but then she told me that the meeting was postponed to Monday for some reason (that I didn't bother to remember)....
I was like.. 'Aww.... no ipac then..?' (of course.. in my head lah!)
I was so hoping to get it that day and study its functions during the weekend... sigh... gonna be so busy next week...
then had a little trouble with Kimberley.... very complicated so I won't bother to explain...
thankfully, in the end things turned out all right... I got to fetch Kim up to campus and I was able to join up with them for the campus tour, when initially I thought I couldn't...
then had an hour or so to rest..... used that time at the Student Council Room..

Happy family of Samurai X
Then came time to meet with the SOAR Advisors of the last Orientation Week... which are Roger, Melanie, GT, Cheryl, Iqbal, Wisdom, Hiew, Kimberley, Augustine, Ky, Aylwin, Ian, Genesis, Pamela... but minus Anthony as he would not be around that week.. too bad...
but then, his absence has been covered by two new additions to the team.. Angeline & Diana...
Anyway... initially, Abel contacted me saying that he'd be slightly late, so to teach the two new girls the dance steps that the other SOAR Advisors were all so familiar with already....
a little while later, he contacted me again and said to carry out some of the discussions as did before, as he was caught up with a sudden last minute meeting...
So I chaired the meeting for a while... discussing some of the initial things that I know should be take care of first.... like Monday, first day of the o-week..
then a third message, Abel said that he predict he won't be able to make it for the meeting at all... and so for us to discuss everything and teach the dance steps to the two girls.. and then call it a night..
so... I chaired a meeting for the first time.... wow.... haha!
anyway.. got to take care of the usual initial stuffs.... and got to teach the two girls the steps of 'Lean On Me', 'The Jungle Song' & a little of 'I Will Survive'...
and then we went off.... some of us however went to eat at Restoran Nurhikmat... before calling it a night...

Next day.. Saturday morning.... 9.30am was another meeting amongst the SOAR Advisors...
Abel once again had to be late for the meeting, so we used the time to recap the dance steps for Angeline.. Diana was having class at the time... but she later joined us during the meeting...
When Abel arrived, we started our meeting...
He did a little of positive motivation for us.. with the goal to remind us to always remain calm and optimistic despite what may happen... and also to improve and strengthen our camaraderie and sense of team spirit!
After that, he also commented on each one of us that were present... our strengths and our shortcomings...

For me.. I can still remember them... and I intend on reminding myself on them...
Abel first mentioned about my public speaking ability...
He advised me to work on my tone and emphasis of words as I speak, so as to somewhat improve my 'monotonous' voice..
He said that I am improving... and was about 70% improvement....
I know that I am improving... but I don't know if I'm even half way there....
Next, he commented on my leadership skills...
He praised that I have good leadership skills and have really changed myself a lot for the better since the first time he got to know me in Summer Camp 2003..
He mentioned that I was reliable as I get my work done... which was why he asked me to conduct the meeting the other night...
And lastly, he gave me one advise... and that is to be more sensitive... sensitive to the needs of others...
one reason why he asked me to be that, was cause for the fact that I am a member of the Student Council, representing the students of the Curtin community..
He suggest for me to first start small.. namely within the team of SOAR Advisors..
I used to be quite sensitive... I believe....
when Curtin Volunteers! Apprentice was first introduced and the group selected... amongst all the EXCO members of CV!, I feel I knew all member of CV!A the most... the happiness they felt, the usual life of theirs... and even the problems they were facing..
But I did realise that I was less sensitive of my other team members nowadays....
possibly cause of my other problems being faced.... guess time for me to improve myself some more...

Anyway... back to the day of activities, after the meeting with Abel, we headed to have lunch at Restoran Nurhikmat again before heading to Dynasty Hotel for the final briefing session of the next day's Run For Charity event...
After that briefing session, we got to go into our rooms upstairs... most of us were staying overnight at Dynasty Hotel.. four rooms were provided to us, for free.. YAY!!
Sigh.. .but that afternoon was so BORED!!!!
I can still remember that practically everyone had gone off somewhere... and when I went up to the room, I only had Augustine to accompany me... haha!
just boredly watched television... thankfully got an interesting movie on at the time...
later on, Ian & Aylwin got to join us.. and then alter, Roger, Kim & her brother, Aaron... so it wasn't too bored after that...

that night, got to eat at McDonald at Bintang Plaza with Iqbal, Roger, Kimberley, Aaron, Ian, Augustine & Melanie...
After that dinner, headed back to the hotel for another briefing session, with Abel....
it was just a quick one to remind us about tomorrow...
After that, just stayed in our rooms.. boredly watching the television again... but at least this time with more company... and thankfully a few nice movies was shown.. haha!
Got to finally sleep around before 2am....

But then woke up at about 4am.... got changed and prep for the day's event...
met up with the rest of the team down at the lobby before heading out to do venue preparations...
And then everyone was sent to their respective posts along the route of the joggerthon...
it wasn't long before the event was already done and we got to go back to Dynasty Hotel...
after all the runners had finished the race, we had a closing ceremony, including speeches, prize-giving to the winners, and cert-giving to the committee members, including the CV! members..
then we proceeded with an early brunch... and then most of us just crashed in our rooms (as we were allowed to check out by 3pm)
most of us just slept starting from 10.30am onwards....
me.. I didn't sleep much... not much of a afternoon napper..
it was so peaceful in the room... with Roger, Kimberley, Aaron & Ian sleeping while I just watched the TV...
I did sleep little by little as time passed... but I enjoyed the serenity of the time...

Sigh... what a calming day.. hehe... a calming end to such a chaotic second week of my semester..
and next week, starting tomorrow, will be the Foundation Orientation Week..
can't wait to see how this one turns out....
Wish I could be more involved.. but I've classes and most likely work to do.. sigh... shrugs... see lah how I handle my time....

2nd week and going strong! *grin*

Strip poker, anyone?
It's been a while since my last update of my life...
Life's been of ups and downs.... And one part of my life (which I won't be disclosing anytime soon) is still going on and I am looking forward to how it'll end... hopefully a happy one for me...

Anyway... this would be the mid of my 2nd week in Degree First Year First Semester...
Things are going quite all right.. so far.. still good... wonder how it's gonna be for me with assignments, works and co-curricular activities...
this is not even inclusive of my own personal life yet... XP

Well... there are two events that I'll be having coming up soon...
First would be the Run For Charity, co-organised by Curtin Volunteers! and Dynasty Hotel Miri..
this event will be happening this coming Sunday, August 14th 2005.
This event works like a Joggerthon... with collection of donations and then after having a certain amount of donation, the collector would be eligible to participate with the eventful run.
Just last night, Abel held a meeting with most of the remaining active CV! members regarding that... which comprises of some of the EXCO members and ex-CV! Apprentices..
Discussed on the things we needed to do on our side of work...
ooh boy... so much work to do....
Will be having a meeting with the committee team at Dynasty Hotel tomorrow night... and then will have a briefing session with all parties this Saturday afternoon, including the runners..... ooh boy!!

The eye of Kadaj
Second event is the Foundation Orientation Week, which is next week..
Gonna be having two meetings later this week... this Friday night and Saturday morning...
Man! So packed this week!!

Besides that, have a group asignment to take care of by the end of this week too... for Engineering Communications 100...
speaking of that subject.. I was one of the selected few that volunteered to participate in a project... called 'HP Mobile Technology Project' or something like that...
The lecturer, Ms. Beena who is put in charged of this project, will be briefing me and a few other particpants about it this coming Friday. (See how packed this week is for me? sigh..)
Yay! I'll be getting an ipac for this project though! Woohoo!!

For some of you who might be wondering what is an ipac... it should be something like this little doohickey here...
A wireless ipac
also known as a PDA (Personal Data Assistant) device... it's like a digital organiser that is quite compact and usualy very helpful...
Woohoo! Can't wait to lay my fingers on them!
I'll be using this little doohickey throughout this semester, so long as I remain in this subject, Engineering Communications 100...
For this project, I'll be working together with the other participants on the group assignments and all and will also be aliasing with a few students down at Curtin Perth....
I'm still very curious at what I'll be actually doing for this project? and why would I be given an ipac for this project?

got to talk about it a little, and Kimberley & I thought about the same... that it might be a research to see how useful a PDA device would be to help students with their work...
Shrugs... Will know what's up with this project when the briefing session with Ms Beena this Friday..
But my big goal for this project is to perform satisfyingly well enough to get to keep the PDA device! Yeah!! Ms. Beena mentioned that we might be awarded the ipac if we performed well... but no guarantees...
*Breathe in, breathe out* Hope I can get to keep the digital device.. it'd be SO SO SO COOL!

walking down a road of thorny bushes but wonderous scenery

Roger, me & Kimberley
Trio of a lifetime

Thought to share a little from my own perspective.
It is undoubtedly amazing how people can get so close to one another in just a few days.
Sigh... I never thought this would go so far.
Not to mention, never thought that it would be between me and my closest best friend ever since childhood...

Roger, you are as I mentioned before, and that is not one bit a lie. You know me better than anyone I know, even my own family, both of either blood or friendship. We've always been able to talk just about anything and everything to one another. Our friendship has constantly been tested, mainly by separation and individual differences.

In secondary school, we were of different classes, except in Form 1. National Service, you were placed at West Malaysia, while I remained in Sarawak. Pre-University studies, you studied at PRIME while I studied at Curtin.

Despite all that, we've always remained best friends.

I visited you at your class in the end of our secondary school lives,
We stayed in touch when we could during National Service,
And even now you have joined me at Curtin.

BEFORE, you had always been good with your studies and in sports, ever since primary school. I on the other hand had always been quiet, reserved, and had terrible academic performances. You've got to travel a lot and experienced a lot cause of your competitions, while I constantly remained back in boring Miri, still trying to discover myself.

NOW, I've discovered a lot of myself and of what I want in my life. I've gone through many different experiences and learned a lot of things. So basically, I've brought myself up pretty much close to your level.. in a sense... hehe!

This is yet another test of our friendship, a test that was never expected since we thought we had our differences of taste.
Guess we share a lot more in common, huh?
Initially, this test, for me, was very daunting and frightening, honestly.
One point, I was even afraid that I would end up hating you in the end of this.
I recall worrying about such a thing happening to us long long ago back near the end of secondary school, but what would I know, huh, back then?

Now, I can dare say that nothing is ever gonna break that bond of ours.
Our bond of friendship is strong by itself, but it also draws its power from our own individual strengths. So it's basically indestructible, I feel.
We're not merely just best friends. We're truly twins. 'Lost twins', 'Twins of different birthdays', etc.

This is from my personal view, anyway. I can't say I know your point of view.

Kim, you are the closest girl I've ever been friends with. No other girl that I am or have been friends with comes close to you.
You're always leaving yourself in depression, and that always leaves me depressed too.
I always try to lift your spirits up. And like that picture you showed me, I did that not cause I wanted to see a smile on your face, but because I didn't want you to remain in distress. A smile from you just shows that at least a little light is shining in your dark despair.
I apologise sincerely if whatever I've done, whether deliberate or not, may have been a bother to you in some way.
As I told you before, I care a lot about you and will continue to til the day I rest my body forever.

I apologise with much sincerity to anyone that has been affected negatively in some way by this situation of ours.
It was just something that happened, and I feel is gonna be for a while longer before it finally settles.

Rog, Kim,
I definitely hope that we'll remain close, no matter the outcome.
I love and care about both of you and it'd be a terrible, terrible waste of our great friendship if our bonds were lost somehow.
We're a trio of a lifetime, indeed.

Yours sincerely, Zack

A girl with admirable faith (A true story)

MY DAUGHTER CAROL, AND THE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT
by Robert Schuller

My daughter Carol lost her leg in a motorcycle accident in 1978. At the time, Mrs. Schuller and I were in Korea. On the long trip back to Iowa, I searched for the right thing to say. What would my first words to Carol be?

When we arrived at the hospital, I was shocked. Carol lay in her bed in intensive care, her body bruised, broken, and disfigured. But her spirits were whole and healthy. Immediately she solved the problem of what to say by speaking first: "I know why it happened, Dad. God wants to use me to help others who have been hurt."

It was this spirit that carried her through seven months of hospitalization, intravenous feedings, and consequent collapsed veins.

This positive attitude gave her the courage to fight a raging infection that threatened her life and to hang on until a new drug was released by the FDA. (It was the right drug at the right time - a real miracle.) It was that same positive attitude that helped Carol make the transition from hospital patient to a "handicapped" member of a family and school - and to feel normal and whole again.

The last picture we have of Carol with both legs is one taken when she was in her softball uniform. The athlete of the family, Carol loves to play softball. The summer after her accident, she shocked me by saying, "Dad, I'm going to sign up for softball again this year."

"That's great," I responded, not wanting to discourage her.

At that time, Carol's artificial leg was attached just below the knee which was so stiff she could barely bend it at a thirty-degree angle. She walked very stiffly; running was out of the question. However, I took her to the local school where all the parents were lining up with their daughters to register for the girls' softball team. Carol signed up and went to check out her uniform.

As she swung her stiff plastic leg into the car and rested her jersey, socks, and cap in her lap, I turned to her and said, "Carol, how do you expect to play ball if you can't run?"

With flashing eyes, she snapped back, "I've got that all figured out, Dad! When you hit home runs, you don't have to run."

My daughter is tough. She's a survivor. She hit enough home runs that season to justify her presence on the team!

Carol inspired everyone with her tenacity, too. She had six surgeries after that first amputation. Later, she took up skiing and won a gold medal in the qualifying races that admitted her to that elite corps of skiers participating in the National Ski Championships. In March 1983, she pulled her goggles on and took her place among the champions of her country - at the young age of eighteen! Yes, she still walked with a limp. She drew curious looks from strangers. But her positive attitude and determination helped her even with that.

Several years ago, our family was privileged to be guests of the American-Hawaiian Steamship Company on a one-week cruise of the Hawaiian Islands. It was absolutely beautiful. During the trip, Carol was not in the least ashamed to be seen in shorts or swimming attire although her artificial leg covered her stump to just below the hip. But she was very conscious of the fact that people looked at her out of the corners of their eyes and wondered what had happened to her.

On this cruise, it was customary on the last night to have a talent show in which the passengers participated. Carol, then seventeen years old, surprised us by saying, "I'm going to be in the talent show tonight." Now, Carol doesn't sing, and of course she doesn't dance. So, naturally, I was curious as to what she would do.

Friday night, my wife and I sat in the lounge along with six hundred other people. The stage was set in the big glorified cocktail lounge. As you can imagine, it was a very secular scene. The first acts performed were typical of amateur talent shows. Then it was Carol's turn.

She came on stage wearing neither shorts nor Hawaiian garb, but a full-length dress. She looked beautiful. Walking up to the microphone, she said, "I really don't know what talent is, but I thought this would be a good chance for me to give what I think I owe you all - an explanation. I know you've been looking at me all week, wondering about my fake leg. I thought I should tell you what happened.

"I was in a motorcycle accident. I almost died, but the doctors kept giving me blood, and my pulse came back. They amputated my leg below the knee, and later, they amputated through the knee. I spent seven months in the hospital - seven months with intravenous antibiotics to fight infection."

She paused a moment, then continued. "If I've one talent, it's this: During that time, my faith became very real to me."

Suddenly a hush swept over the lounge. The waitresses stopped serving drinks. The glasses stopped clinking. Every eye was focused on this tall seventeen-year-old blonde.

She said, "I look at you girls who walk without a limp, and I wish I could walk that way. I can't, but this is what I've learned, and I want to leave it with you: It's not how you walk that counts, but who walks with you and with whom you walk."

Then she paused and said, "I'd like to sing a song about my friend, my Lord."

And she sang: And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own, And the joy we share in our time of prayer (originally, "as we tarry there") None other has ever known.

"Thank you." And she stepped down.

There was not a dry eye, not a life that wasn't touched that night.

By holding on, digging in, and making the most of what happened to her, Carol taught me one of the greatest lessons I've ever learned: Tough times never last, but tough people do.

When tough times come, we need to take tough action, to hold on until the tide turns for the better, to tenaciously dig in and bloom where we are planted, and to inspire people with our cheerful and positive attitude. In the process, other people will be stimulated to choose noble and positive outlooks for their lives too.

Day 4... going STEALTH

Bring life into other's day!
Sigh... today would be Day 4 of my life in Degree Year 1 Semester 1...
so far still.... ok? haha... having problems with my lecturers liao.. haha!

Engineering Mechanics 100 - Ms. Carrie Ho
Engineering Mathematics 120 - Ms. Khine Khine
Engineering Computing 100 - Mr. Veeramani
Engineering Communications 100 - Ms. Beena Giridharam
Intro. Engineering & Professional Studies WS 100 - Dr. Chua Han Bing

having somewhat of a trouble with Ms. Carrie & Dr. Chua...
their presentation are not so good... sigh.... especially Ms. 'Underwood'.. >p
other lecturers are either ok or I've not yet gotten to know them that well yet...
sigh.. this semester is gonna be quite hard for me...

last night got to join Roger, Iqbal & Abel to watch the movie, 'Stealth'.
The movie is actually good.... but it was just not my type of movie... I found it rather boring, even during the 'dog fight' which should've been one of the more exciting scenes...
I liked an older movie, 'Pearl Harbor', despite its 'dog fight' scenes... cause those are short and not really the main focus of the movie...
Stealth, I feel is more for those who enjoy the high-flying adrenaline... as in watching it.. not necessarily the ones that do it...
Actually I even slept a bit in the movie near the end.. hahaa! the VERY first time I do that in the cinema!! OMG!!!
after the movie, ate a little at Sultana... and got to play a little pool inside Cheerie Berries with Roger and Iqbal.. good thing it was still early, so not many people inside there yet...

Poor Pikachu...
tomorrow is the day... the final results of the last semester for Foundation will be released tomorrow.... afternoon supposedly...
I hoenstly can't wait to see my results... and I still don't know how I did for my research essay on 'Laughter'... (which was posted some time ago)
Sigh.... wish I can know all that by tomorrow...

..............

..............................

.. not to mention.. I'm quite worried about a friend of mine who's terribly worried about her results...

Take care of your Liver!!

Be Good To Your Liver

The main causes of liver damage are:

1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are the main cause.

2. Not urinating in the morning.

3. Too much eating.

4. Skipping breakfast.

5. Consuming too much medication.

6 Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and
artificial sweetener.

7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking
oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like
olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the
body is very fit.

8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the

Ingredients:
Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be
finished in one sitting, do not store.

We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have
to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good
eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to
absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."

Directions:
Because:

Evening at 9 - 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary/toxic
chemicals (de-toxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This
time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If
during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as
washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this
will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1am : is the de-toxification process in the liver, and
ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3am : de-toxification process in the gall, also
ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5am : de-toxification in the lungs. Therefore there
will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time.
Since the de- toxification process had reached the respiratory tract,
there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with
toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am : de-toxification in the colon, you should empty your
bowel.

Morning 7 - 9am : absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you
should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier,
before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very
beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip
breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to
eat breakfast late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of
removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4am is the
time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep
and don't sleep late.

First day of Degree

Conan in disguise
First day of Degree.. and it's been quite an all right day for me...
let's begin with something quite uncomfortable that happened...

last week, me and my other friends who will be going to the first year of Degree today (Kimberley & Hiew) had thought that our first lecture of the semester would be in the afternoon...
but then, last night, I checked online and realised that the timetable had changed... now the lecture is in the morning..... AT 8AM!!!
sigh... have to wake up early... which I did...

My brother sent me to campus.... but because of his slackiness... I was slightly late for the lecture... entering the room as the lecturer, Mr. Veeramani, of Engineering Computing 100 was speaking already.. sigh...
today he just only explained about the unit... interesting lecturer... but just seems to go off-topic often... as much as he tries to explain and support what he is talking about....

after that, got to discuss about the grouping with Kimberley & Wani.. before we went to cafeteria for breakfast.....
then was joined by Iqbal and then Roger... after a while of sitting there, we then took care of our tutorial class grouping...
Joined group 3.... sigh.. thankfully there was room.. too bad can't join Group 1... fully booked liao.. sigh....

after that, Iqbal sent us (minus Wani) to Kimberley's house...
there, just spent time.... mostly just playing cards.. hehe....
mid afternoon we went to Pizza Hut... Roger, Iqbal & I.. Kim couldn't join..
we ate quite nicely.. thanks to the special offer that Iqbal had....
Thanks for the splendid meal, Bal!!

Kimberley finally joined us after we were long done with our pizzas...
we can went 'jalan-jalan' around Parkson...
played some arcade... and also got to look at what movies were currently available and coming soon....
then got to meet with John Ngui at the bowling alley... stupid guy.. haha!
after that, Kim sent Roger back home while Iqbal sent me back...
ever since, I've been in front of the computer then... hehe...

Grenadier: The Smiling Senshi
Got to watch finish the 12-episodes anime series called 'Grenadier: The Smiling Senshi'...
quite a short and ok series.....
I feel it's an anime that would be a pleasurable sight for especially boys...
I found this anime quite... simple... actually..
nothing really special... the only cool part is how the girl is able to reload her gun with the new bullets flying through the air...
but then that just gets old quick...
however, I do like the main hero a lot... like his personality and character.. haha!
