Contrasting Days of Work

Sigh.. how many days? Three days working straight.. sigh... so tired...
ok.. let's first update on yesterday...

Friday, 19 February, 2005...
Morning started work at 8am... came to work with my brother...
Customers came in early.. at 8.30am... sigh... and then they never stopped coming...
sigh.. so tired lah.. and I recall.. again I clenched my fist... I was so not in the working mood...
however.. time went on.. and finally my mind woke up and I felt better while working...

That afternoon... when it was nearing our time to go home at 2pm... David asked me and my brother to stay behind... until 5pm.. O_O!!
Why?
Because there'll be some customers in the restaurant before the function that night...
and they all need to go home and rest for the function... all except one of them... who onyl came that afternoon to take over the whole place...
I agreed to it cause I knew it's gonna be an easy few extra hours...
and surely enough it was...
I was even able to sit down behind the counter for quite a while...
hahaa... but I do recall this particular accident that happened...
pouring the Chinese Tea to the customers... there was one particular guy... I took his glass.. and I poured the tea quickly into the glass as I did with the others, cause I didn't want the glass to get too hot for my fingers... since the tea was REALLY hot!!
and guess what?
the glass cracked and nearly shattered in my hand... the tea even spilled through the cracks and onto my hand and onto the table...
Reflexively, my hand placed the cracked/spilling glass onto the table and I was stunned for a while... (as well as some of the customers around me)
then no choice but to take another glass and fill that one... slower this time.. hahaha...
well.. that was all lah...
around 5pm, Roger arrived... showed him the cracked glass... ahhaa...
soon, me and my brother went home.. to the surprise of some who didn't realise we'd stayed there since morning...
NINE HOURS of work.. *fakes a faint*
but it was all right... it started off bad.. but ended quite all right

The next day (today) will have work again... but only me as my brother wanted to watch NBA...
that night, for dinner, my family and Jonathan's family (of three for your information, his parents and Jon) went to Al Fresco... yeah, the cafe where I got to eat with Abel & some other friends in Curtin in earlier times...
rare occasion, so I joined...
oh yeah... this reminds me.... I'm thinking that this day had been my clumpsiest day in all my years..
during work... the cracked glass incident... and some other minor details, such as dropping the dishware and silverwares a few times...
then that night at Al Fresco, I accidentally spilled a glass of drink over the table and the glass even cracked from the impact of it hitting the table.. DAMN IT!!
sigh.. luckily, the people there only charged me the drink.. not the glass... phew....
oh yeah... another thing happened during that time... me and my brother got into another argument...
my goodness.. this time, he's really done it.. he's SO LOUSY at retelling a recent event...
our argument started when we headed home from work... which was latest two hours earlier!
and he was completely telling the story wrong... and making it sound like I'm the one that's wrong!!!
*TUUUUuuuuuuUUUUT* that guy!! But whatever lah him...

ok... enough about that..
dinner there... went around Boulevard... then went home...
couldn't update last night, cause I had work tomorrow so I wanted to sleep early and it was already 10pm...
Then! I got to chat with a friend of mine online in MSN... Esther Ting...
turned out she'd been working during the function at Grand Palace Hotel just now... (with Roger)
We got to chat quite some last night... great conversation...
In the past, we'd been talking a lot.. and she'd asked me about the work at Grand Palace..
this coming Monday, she'll be going to Kuala Lumpur so she just wanted to earn something til then...
and finally, last Thursday she got a call from David and had worked three days straight since... (including today) two night functions and one day work...
and yes, she told me that she was going to be working (today) in the morning... (as well as Roger)
I was excited as I've gotten to be friends with this girl, and now I get the chance to meet her before she leaves...
I went off by midnight (darn it...) and went to sleep...


Next day...
I was excited... I forgot to mention, last night, Esther told me that she and Roger will be starting work at 7am...
then before I sleep, I decided to join them early... to earn some extra buck...
And I did... though I arrived slightly after 7am...
surprised the two when I did...
and to be honest.. I was surprised to see Esther herself...
I gotta admit.. she's quite a pretty girl... (but whatever!! Don't point any finger at me!)

To be honest.. I was quite... cheery.. today... I smiled here and there as I worked... and I was actually... having fun!?
ok.. let me explain the situation at work... by 8am.. first customer came in already...
and soon after.. another one.. and then another.. and then some more... and soon in twenty minutes we have over five tables to take care of! That's the most heavy work I've done within the first hour of work.. plus it was at 8am!!
customers after customers.... tables taken one after the other.. and soon, we had to prepare the table right in front of the customers!!
sigh... no time to even think about my legs' fatigue as the manager keeps barking us to be faster and more aware.... as a few times some of the tables were left unattended....
well.. what do you think.. you just told me to take care of THIS side of the restaurant.. and then soon you complain to me about the unattended table at THAT side...
anyway... I had my fun while working... I was even humming to the repetitive music in the restaurant... AHH!!!

That afternoon.... things FINALLY started to slow down... as customers were starting to lessen...
that we even finally got our chance to take our lunch breaks...
Work was over for most of us by 2pm... but then David asked me to stay back.. but this time til 3pm only lah! hahaa.. not 5...
I got to convince Roger (I think) to stay behind to work as well...
it was an easy extra hour of work... only two tables were occupied...
we both just mostly did our own thing... including eating some of the food there.. [SHHH!! Don't spread the word!!]

Anyway.. soon enough, we left for home...
My feet were really complaining by now as I drove home...
when reached home, was informed to go to my aunty's house.. reason?
my Aunty's mother-in-law just passed away, just yesterday (morning, I heard)...
Died of old age... According to my mother, 80++ years old...
Walked to my aunty's nearby home.. and prayed a little in front of the deceived's portrait (with joss sticks of course) and then headed home already...
reason was because my family had been there for longer while I was working... and were just waiting for me, I supposed...
I spent not more than five minutes there... amazing...

Showered.. played some PS2... and then dinner.. then came online...
now just spending my time online... hopefully chatting with Esther before tomorrow...
she's leaving by evening time...
and once there.. she'll mostly likely lose contact with the Internet.... for she won't be having a computer (if not mistaken according to what she said) there...
That all...
